The Cadena Kids

I never want to hear the words trowel, mortar, grout, spacers or tile again

I am SO sick of tiling. Good news is we are about 99% done. Of course a job that starts out as a little one always ends as a huge task. We finished tiling in the master bathroom today but in order to tile around the toilet it requires you to take the toilet off and take off this massive ring of nasty wax. We tiled around the hole in the ground where the sewage goes and wouldn't you know that the pipe busted behind the toilet, so off to home depot I went. I bought the hose that SHOULD have connected the toilet back to the wall and when I got home I realized that we needed another piece, so off to Walmart I went, as Home Depot is closed and it was now 10:30pm. I got home took the old parts off and water came shooting out everywhere. We contained the minor flooding and went to put the new pieces on and then realized I grabbed the female version and I needed the male version. ARGGG! By this time I wanted to scream. So off to Walmart Mikey went and it was now 11:15 pm.He got back home around 11:45pm with the male adaptor. Alas, we have a fit. Praise God!

wax ring for toilet...... $3.99

connecting hose for toilet......$3.87

FEMALE angle valve adaptor......$3.74

MALE angle valve adaptor......ANOTHER $3.74

Being able to wake in the middle of the night and pee in a working toilet........Priceless

Gloria and anyone else who is wondering

2 posts down is a picture of my Grandma holding my Aunt Tracy. They were at some type of fair or carnival or something, hence the reason they are in the FAKE jail. It's the only pic I have out of her because she still looks so healthy and beautiful. The guys on the sides are her husband (not my fathers realy dad) and his brother. I don't communicate with him (her husband) anyone because of personal reasons and that's why I cropped the pic to where just she and my Aunt are in it.

Today I hung my head in sorrow

I am sad and angry that this war has not come to an end. Stop this "fighting for our freedom" bullshit already! We are losing too many lives in Iraq and it's not our freedom we are fighting for. Today I got a phone call that someone I know from high school was killed in a suicide bombing. I can't imagine as a mother getting that news on Mother's Day. I will pray for his family and rejoice for his soul that is now in Heaven. The family is requesting not to be contacted at this time but I hope they have a public service for him so we can go pay our respects. He was always a nice guy in school, not one of those jerky types. It's so sad. I am still in shock. I'll always remember him for his nice casual conversations in the hallways at James Madison H.S. and those beautiful eyes and baby face. I'll post a link once his name is release to the press. Out of the 4 people we have known that have gone to Iraq, one has come back injured and with severe mental anguish and the other was KIA (killed in action). What is that saying about our odds? My brother in law leaves in November. Please Lord, bring this to an end (and no, I am not talking to you Mr. President). Rest in peace my friend.

More pictures

It's been a while so I thought I would put some pictures up.

First off, let me say that my sister is so smart and creative and sometimes that can be put to good use like this.....
Aly art

I got this via email from my mom. Here is Alyssa's version of the story that each picture is telling....

"I am so fortunate to see these kind of things on a daily basis, and
thought I'd share the humor.

View pictures from left to right.
1. Rhobin getting ready to go dancing. Dress is hanging next to her.
2. Alyssa going dancing.
3. Alyssa and Tyler walking Bud.
4. Alyssa and Tyler walking Bud and A.J.
5. A mortuary robot and it eats bugs. (Don't ask me I just relay
information.)
6. Paul and me(my mom) walking Maysie and Bud."

And then there are times that her smarts put her in situations such as this(followed by comments from my mom again)........
Aly cuts hair

"The funny thing about this, is that I didn't even notice anything until
this morning and she did it around 3:00 yesterday. She hid the lock of

hair behind her desk in the playroom. She said, that she thought her
hair would look better this way and that she wanted bangs like me. No
more scissors for her, unless I'm right there. I have to watch her more
now than I ever did before. I'm just glad she didn't cut a big chunk
out, at least she left enough for bangs. She actually did a good job."

You gotta love her!

We had the most gorgeous weather until today! It was freezing cold at Tyler's soccer game, in which he scored two goals today! Yay! He even played defense which was so surprising since they don't teach that since the teams are 3 on 3 and they just want them to get a foot on the ball. They don't have goalies either but once the other team got the ball Ty would run down the field around all the huddle that was fighting for the ball and guard the goal. He kept it from going in on 2 seperate occasions. We were gloating we were so proud. Ava just kept saying "Cooold Cooold". Anyway back to this gorgeous weather we WERE having....

Long over due post

I have been keeping so busy lately with the planning of Mikey's graduation party, my new found love for the gym(I have to make up for my also new found love of Chia tea), planning our vacation and just life in general. My Dad bought a house recently and I am so happy to see him content. It's gorgeous and maybe I can get some pics of it up soon. Tyler's team got creamed this past Saturday. I think the other team was really 16 year old midgets. We were all joking that we wanted to see their birth certificates. What really matters is that the kids had fun, they had no idea of how bad they got beat. I am so glad they don't keep score at this age.

Ava is getting her eye teeth in and boy has she been grouchy. Even when she is grouchy she is still a pretty good baby. Her new favorite word is shhoos (shoes). She has found that when she jumps in her crib it is like a trampoline, and she loves it! She just giggles and giggles. She is recognizing people now too. She sees them in pictures and calls them by name, the ones she sees often anyway.

Mikey has had a few job interviews and knows he has at least one in the bag. He has another interview a company based in Dallas. If the offer is right then it looks like we may be moving. They don't encourage over time because they are big on family time. Now that's what I like to hear. All these years of my husband going to school and working has taken it's toll on me and I want my husband back. He seems really interested in this company and our money will go further up there when it comes to buying a home. Dad, I know you don't like to hear this but we have to go where the money is. You will always be welcome in our home, of course and maybe you can transfer up there someday ;-)....yeah I know, you just bought a house. No sense in worring over it now when we aren't even sure where we are going to end up.

I am SO ready for Tyler to start school. I think we need a break from eachother. I probably irritate him as much as he gets on my nerves sometimes. He really over all is a very well behaved child, but STUBBORN! I don't even want to hear it, I know he gets that from me. I get so tired of trying to teach him new things and he thinks he knows better than I do. Ok, so sometimes he does, like the green cricket issue (where I argued that crickets were brown and he argued that they were greeen). Thanks Susan for poining out that Jimmy Cricket is green ;-). The why's get so frustrating too. Like, "Tyler, go eat your dinner" Tyler "Why?", and this is the part that gets me most (me) "Because I said so, that's why". Now if that doesn't sound like my mother than I don't know what does. Things I said I would never say, I now find myself saying, and several times a day I must add. It's funny though, when I was a kid and my mom would fumble for words to find a logical explanation for things when I was talking back or being obnoxious her words always made sense to me. Now I am doing the same thing and sometimes I just want to laugh at myself for the things that come out of my mouth. Like today for instance, Tyler had decided he was going to be mad at me because when he grows up Ava will grow up too and he wanted her to only stay a kid (see the things I go through???). Anyhow, a few mintues later he says to me, "Mommy, we need to go get some chocolate pudding from the store". I told him, "No, because of the way you are acting, kids that act like that don't get pudding and you are acting ????". Acting what??? I didn't want to imply that he is a bad child by saying that he was bad. I just turned up the radio and hoped he wasn't going to ask me just how it was he had been acting.

It was funny today as I was driving around doing errands two early twenty-something boys drove up next to me. I had my front windows down enjoying this gorgeous weather we are having and they just kept waving and smiling looking like idiots while I just kept trying to ignore them. So finally after I tried getting ahead of them and then them catching up, I just rolled down my back windows and said, "Say hi Tyler and Ava!". After that they drove ahead of me without looking back. Funny how kids can scare almost anyone off.

Tyler has been reunited with his long lost love from school, Sarah. We ran into them at the gym today and he was so happy to see her. They hugged and talked and then we parted ways. They are going to start coming earlier so the kids can spend time together in the daycare.

Relief!

I reinstalled some spyware and it looks like the issue is resolved. I was researching the meds I am currently taking for my spider bites online the other night and all of the sudden my computer locked up. Since then I have had trouble with pop-ups and I can't get my homepage to come up. I installed some spyware and Fire Fox and my computer is working again, all the links that aren't supposed to be there are gone and my computer is faster! Hooray! Enough of this boring computer lingo.......I'll write more later, I am off to the gym.

P.S. Thanks Matt, I am assuming you are from the blogeastyadministration.

This would be a reason to change hosts

If you look back on my last few posts you will see that words like home and check etc are underlined and if you scroll over them you will see that you can click on them. I have no idea why they would be linking to my blog or how it happened, but if it is due to the host of the blogeasy site, I may be starting a blog elsewhere. The links have nothing to do with me or anything I refer to in my posts. From here on out I will directly tell you if I am leaving a link for you to go to. I will talk to one of my computer genious friends, Katrina, to see what she has to say about it. Sorry for the confusion!
