The Cadena Kids

He's too young to move out

I guess I was around 4 or 5 the first time I threatened to move out. I had dumped all my drawers into my big blue fuzzy blanket (which I STILL sleep with). I had planned to tie it up and put a stick through it just like all the cartoon hobos I had seen before. I heard my mom walk in the door and locked myself in the bathroom, afraid to come out. I never even made it out the front door.

Now fast forward 25 years to my son now doing the same to me. Here's the story............

I made spaghetti for dinner a few nights ago so after I finished cooking I went to turn off theTV in my room and tell him to come to dinner. He was so upset because he wanted pizza. He told me he didn't "want to live with this family anymore". He said he was going to live with Grandma and Kurt where he could eat pizza everyday. I told him fine, go. He started collecting toys and I said he couldn't take them or his clothes because that stuff belongs to this family and if he isn't a part of this family then he couldn't have them. At the time he had a shirt and underwear on so he tells me "I will wear this to Grandma's house and then wash it and then you can come and get it and then Grandma will buy me new clothes". He proceeded to call Grandma and she talked to him for a long time. I just heard him telling her over and over "mommy and daddy are mean to me because they won't let me have pizza for dinner tonight". I guess finally he got over it because once they got off the phone he gave in to my spaghetti and we spent some cuddle time together. By the way Grandma Glo, you can't always give in to these kids because you and I after all know what's best for them even though they think they know better. Ok, so you have some rights to give in because you are a Grandma, BUT it may bite you in the bum later when they are teenagers...hahaha

He's a pro

Tyler made me go to the store today to buy batteries for my digital so he could take more pictures. I can not believe that I had to pay $3.00 for 4 batteries, I think it is a conspiracy. Every toy now requires batteries which in turn means that a toy that costs $2.00 to make and sells for $20.00 is actually more like $60.00 if you take into consideration all the batteries you buy during the life time of that toy. Ok, I'll get off my soapbox now and go on to photos............

He is really getting good at centering things. I am so proud of him, pretty impressive if I may say so myself!

Oh, Ava is now saying shoes, and very clearly I must add. Mommy's "shoes" and Daddy's "shoes" and bubba's "shoes", she loves them all. I have even found her walking around with Tyler's flip flops on which she has learned to put on all by herself.

And another definition to add to the others (Tyler):
I see Tyler picking at Ava's nose as she is getting more and more aggrivated with him at the store today. I tell Tyler, "Will you please stop?". He says, "Well she has booger sticky rocks". Have no idea where that came from but how sweet that he is willing to pick her nose for her.

Please clarify for me

Ok, Ty and Ava have 2 grandma's, can you please clarify who is who when you reply? It doesn't take much to confuse me. Thanks!

A busy day

Yay! I am so excited to share this with you all! Ok, so Tyler definatly didn't get his looks from me, in fact the first time I saw him I looked at Mikey and said, "Are you sure he's mine?". BUT I think his personality is coming from me (and I know you are all thinking it but NO I don't throw temper tantrums!). He has this love of art and music (the music part is from Daddy) and now photography. Today I just gave him my camera and he took about 70 pictures. Some of them were really good.......

Game time

Tyler's schedule is as follows...........

This Friday he has practice 5:30- 6:30

All other practices are on Tuesdays same time

First game is April 2nd and every Saturday from here until May 22nd is a game. Times vary so if you are interested in going call me and I will tell you.

Tyler story:

Mikey and Tyler were at home while I ran a few errands a few days ago. Mikey said Tyler was playing in our bedroom while he was watching TV in the livingroom when he heard Tyler saying "Do you not hear me? Are you listening to me?" Mikey asks him, "Are you talking to me?". Tyler says, "No Daddy, I am just pretending." So Mikey keeps listening to him talk away and hears the following...."I'm waiting for my soda! (Mind you, he does not get to drink soda) Where is my soda? Do you hear what I am saying? Where is my soda? Just forget it! Just bring me my beer!".

And no, we don't allow him to drink beer either. It really is amazing how much they pick up. I wouldn't even have thought that he would have known what beer was since we call it "daddy juice" but I guess he is smarter than we give him credit for. Now, I just hope he doesn't play this game at Sunday school, wouldn't that be my luck.

Ava is now pointing at the sky and saying "Nu-na "(Luna, means moon in spanish) without any puppeteering! So cute! And she does this new dance now that instead of bending up and down from the knees she is stomping her little feet and twirling in circles. It's just so adorable because her little curls bounce with each stomp and she still looks like a drunken sailor when she does it. She is SUCH a ham. She knows everyone will laugh so when she does it she will stop to see who all is watching her and will do it over and over again. Her vocablulary is at about 35 words or so now but she understands so much more. Also, any advice on how to get a toddler to stop biting her big brother and mommy would be greatly appreciated, by both Tyler and I.

Sarah, we had such a blast and I can't wait for South Padre. Jacob was every bit as cute as I had pictured him and Tyler loved entertaining him. Sorry about Jacob laughing so hard he puked, that Ty is such a funny guy. I hope you enjoyed your stay as much as I enjoyed having you. I miss having you to chat with after the kids went to bed. Adult conversation, I need that more often.

Mom, we had so much fun with Alyssa this weekend and please let her come stay again soon. It was nice to chat and laugh until 1am also. Miss you and hope you make the right decision in coming back home, whatever that is for you all. Of course for my own selfish reasons I want you back here, but I know there are other things to consider. Just keep in mind, money doesn't buy happniess and you can never again have the time back with loved ones that you could have had today.

Ok, now if that doesn't make you feel guilty, I don't know what will ;-).

Some major news with the Ramons and the little ones count too

Fred and Bobbi! Congradulations! I am so extremely excited for you and I know Madison will be a great big sister! By the way, what's up with Bobbi being pregnant every time we come to Florida? Keep those baby making vibes far away from me!

For Mikey's graduation present we will be going to Disney World in Florida and then driving up to see Bobbi and Fred in Pembroke Pines. I can't wait to see you guys, and that sweet baby girl!

Ava is talking up a storm now and following lots of simple commands such as "go get your cup and put it on the table" and "pick it (whatever she has recently dropped or thrown) up and put it back". She is really so smart. Tonight she asked "where baby" when we got home from dinner and she noticed that Jacob (our liitle visitor) wasn't around. He had in fact gone to bed already. Of course to the non-trained baby languitics ear it probably sounded more like "wwwaa baby?". It still counts.

Tyler had his first soccer practice today and it just melted my heart. He is the oldest except for maybe one other player who is the same age but I am not sure what month his birthday is in, and still somehow he manages to be one of the smallest. My poor baby. We really try to reiterate how he is such a BIG boy etc etc, but I think he sees it. In fact, at the gym daycare the other day I asked him if he had fun when I went to pick them up. He said no because there were other kids that were saying he wasn't a big kid but he kept saying he was. He said he just got mad and went and played by himself because they hurt his feelings. You can never know how a 4 year old can break your heart until you have one of your own and they tell you something like this. All those bullies better watch out for momma. Of course, I don't know how much more threatening I am compared to Tyler since I am not much bigger.

One more thing about Ty, lets add a word to his list.....
snappers- items commonly referred to as clothes pins.

Mikey enjoyed a day off for his birthday and a nice dinner with the kids, Gloria and I at

Pei Wei. It was nice and he will get the rest of his present from me later this month. i'll post about it later as it is a surprise. He has a second interview tomorrow at Northwestern Mutual Financial Network although he already has the job pretty much secured if he wants it. He isn't looking forward to the 8am interview, its almost like getting up for a "real job", haha.

Confession time!

Whoever reads the blog say I!

4 more days!!!!!!!!

My friend Sarah will be here on Sunday!!!! I am so excited! I can't wait to finally meet my little man Jacob. Thanks so much Kurt and Gloria for the party on Saturday, it was fun, and I felt like I got a break from the kids even though they were right there. I'll post some pics from the party soon. Also, Tyler starts soccer season this month. I will post dates for anyone who wants to come to practices or games. It truly is one of the most hilarious things watching a bunch of 3 and 4 year olds chase dragonflies and picking flowers when they are supposed to be playing defense.

About Ava-
Her new word is "shhhheeeessss"- that's cheese to all of you who don't understand baby lingo. She loves carrying her purse everywhere, will have to post a pic of that soon too. Ok, that's all for tonight.
